A Day In The Life Of: Samantha Erdem

It’s 6am, and the sweet Worksop breeze blows by the windows of our Senior Branch Manager’s house, belonging to a certain Samantha Erdem!
She will have her alarm set for 6am, but is normally woken up by her son Taylan at 5:45am shouting ‘MUMMYYYY!!’.
They always leave at 6:30am on the dot to go drop Taylan off at her mum’s house.
Sam will have a quick 15-20 minutes of chit chat with her mum, before she is zooming off to the office!
No breakfast, (That’s another one for the list) but has to always stop by the local Starbucks. It’s part of the Sam religion now.
They know her order off by heart now. A cappuccino with chocolate sprinkles. You don’t want to see Sam when they forget the choccy sprinkles, as she will be very grumpy if they forget her chocolate sprinkles.
Sam feels lost without her coffee – she said it’s her ‘get up and go’.

Sam will arrive at the Worksop office for 7:40am.

Firstly, she will look at the plan and yesterday’s reports. She will have a good catch up with Kayleigh or Paula from our Ripley office, as she’s been overseeing the Ripley office while Branch Manager Lauren is on maternity leave.

She will then have a quick catch up with Yasmin…just a catch up?…alright, a 2-3 hour catch up then! They will go over anything and everything from the week before and the commending week’s activity.

Currently, Sam’s days are absolutely jammed packed with client visits – either in person or over teams. Sam is the jam, and her clients are the biscuits either side of her. Sandwiched with success!

Sam uses her lunch hour to catch up on admin. She always eats at her desk and will use this time wisely to catch up on emails.

Her lunchtime ritual is to text the café downstairs and ask: ‘Yo what’s today’s special m8’ (In words similar to this)

She said she spends an absolute fortune there, and they will always bring her dinner up to the office. Now that is living!

Sam always needs to have a lovely bag of crisps at lunchtime, and not a small bag, OH NO, it NEEDS to be a ‘share bag’ of crisps – if she has a small bag of crisps, it just doesn’t satisfy her needs.

It also has to be a ‘meaty’ bag of crisps, like beef flavoured – she loves some good monster munch or McCoys crisps. Followed by a can of coke to wash it all down with.

Sam’s afternoons tend to be more sales related.

These can include more client visits or sales visits.

Nowadays, she is spending a lot more of her afternoons out door knocking.

*Knock Knock*, “Who’s there?”, “Sam.”, “Sam who?” “Sam from Essential Recruitment!”

Every few weeks or so, Sam will handle all of the Worksop consultant’s 1-2-1’s in the afternoons. To see if they have been performing, what can be improved, and of course, praise them on their successes!

She said her brain is always working, it never shuts off. Consultants say that they just can’t keep up with her because when she has an idea for something, it needs to be done NOW. Like right now. Yes, even when I type this. RIGHT NOW!

Time to head on home now Sam. Leave those ideas for now, they won’t run away.

But as always, she said she never gets the luxury of leaving at 5 when she’s at the Worksop office.

Firstly, she will go and pick up Taylan from her mum’s if her husband hasn’t already, and then head off home for some din dins.

At the moment, dinner consists of Gousto boxes for the convenience. Her husband Mehmet is the one who cooks the tea, so her dinner is generally ready for her when she gets home. BUT she has to do all of the cleaning! And Mehmet generally makes a mess and leaves lots of dishes.

She will do a quick half an hour of school work with her son Taylan, which usually consists of reading. Then she will give him a bath, and get all of his stuff ready for school for the next day.

After that, she will then have a bath herself, and this is where she also checks up on emails, replies to emails, reads reports, looks for sales leads etc.

She said she is often emailing herself ideas at 8pm at night!

Just, erm…don’t drop your phone Sam.

Bedtime for Sam is at 10pm. She is very strict about her beddy byes, as her son will always wake her up early at 5.45am.

Gotta get that beauty sleep in! I think this is the only time where Sam can get 2 minutes to relax…

Goodnight Sam!
