*BEEP BEEP BEEP*
It’s 5:30am on a crisp Barnsley morn, and it’s time for our Branch Manager, Amy Vickers to get up!
A quick bit of peace and quiet before the riot of children… so it’s time to pop on the kettle of course.
A big part of the morning for Amy is to prep tea for that night. This means the good ol’ crockpot comes out to play!
Meanwhile, whilst the crockpot is bubbling… ”WOOF WOOF! Mother please! I need my breakfast!”
That’s Arthur the French bulldog. Interestingly, born on 22/2/22.
Now, here’s another one for the breakfast tally, Amy does not have breakfast. It’s getting ridiculous now…
Finally, it’s time to get herself ready, along with her daughter, then it’s time to zoom off to the office!
As soon as Amy has opened the door to the office, “Check ins! What check in? Why check in? Where check in?”
Then she will stick the kettle on and start the day!
The day will begin a review meeting. This will be attempted in between many rings from the phones, and candidates walking in and out to register!
Most of Amy’s tasks nowadays revolve around the new consultants in the office, as Barnsley had 3 brand new consultants at the exact same time.
She will review their most recent training objectives, sit in with them during interviews to assess their skills, and set targets for them all!
Amy will make sure they all have clear objectives and tasks for the day, that they know what they are doing and when exactly, and then set them free to get to it!
Next, Amy will open up her inbox to 100s of emails… but she will usually close her eyes as she braves opening the Barnsley branch inbox, as there could be up to 1000s!
But not to worry, some of these will be duplicated, so once deleted that will take it down by… 10. That’s it. Best get cracking Amy!
Oh goodie, it’s time for lunch!
Will it be chicken salad? A jacket potato? Or it could something from the amazing Barnsley food court. Have you been? It’s great!
Time for the afternoon, and to review the notes and points from the morning’s DRM. Asking those important questions once again to her consultants – “How’s this going? Is this done? Where is this person now?”
Amy’s managerial tasks will consist of TEAMs meetings, looking through the branch budget to see if we’re on track with targets, and usually nudging at the girls to get the daily report sent over to the managers and directors! Along with many more!
After a long tough day of recruitment, the day will usually finish with washing the pots, emptying bins, and checking for out of date food in the fridge. Ah, the lovely tasks of office life.
Finally, that clock goes from 16:59…to 17:00pm! It’s home time!
But first, it’s straight over to Mum’s to pick up both the child and the dog. Usually Amy will have to battle trying to get both dog and child in the car.
Can you imagine? – “Woof Woof”, “Wah Wah”… Nightmare!
Home time will involve eating the tea that was made from the morning, along with watching cartoons – Amy’s choice, or her daughter’s choice? You decide…
Before bedtime for her daughter, it’s time for Amy to help with the homework, then off to bed at 7:30pm. For her daughter… not Amy.
Amy will EVENTUALLY get time to herself around 9pm… time to collapse.
She will try her very best to at least watch some TV with a brew, but even that can’t happen at the moment, as she’s in the middle of planning a big wedding!
Bath time, then bed for 10pm.
Goodnight Amy… until… “MUM! There’s a monster, a spider, and I need a wee…Is it time to get up?”
