Essential Recruitment are an agency covering South Yorkshire and the Midlands, specialising in both temporary and permanent staffing in the Industrial and Commercial sectors.
Essential was founded in 2006.
We had one clear objective, to uphold the ethical and moral stance in a business sector that was, in our opinion, in decline. Two branches were opened simultaneously, Mansfield and Ripley. Since then the business has grown year on year even through difficult trading times. The turnover of the business has increased annually. Branch openings have been achieved through organic growth with a measured approach and funded by the business to ensure self sustainability.
Chesterfield opened 2007, Worksop 2008, Barnsley 2009, Burton 2011, Long Eaton 2013, Doncaster 2016 and Rotherham 2018. Our Ripley office moved to Ilkeston in 2023 where it was renamed. Further opportunities are currently being investigated including; new openings, mergers and acquisitions. Decisions to invest in the business are only considered when the company can financially sustain the investment.
We strongly believe that to this day we have continually upheld our original objective by specifically working with businesses and individuals that share in our desire to be fair and equitable to all parties involved; Our Clients, Our Candidates, and Our Colleagues.
In 2021 Essential Recruitment became 100% Employee Owned. This landmark moment commemorated the loyalty and dedication of the 65% of employees that had been with the company for 3 or more years, embraced the enthusiasm and optimism of the newer staff members, and opened a world of opportunities to future colleagues.

Simply, we supply temporary and permanent staff to Industry and Commerce.
From Cleaner to Cad Design Engineer or Order Picker to Operations Manager, our belief is that a good recruiter can take a job description and company culture and match it with a CV and an individual’s personality. “Recruitment is Recruitment, is Recruitment!”
How we do it?
“We do what we say we are going to do, when we say we are going to do it.” There is nothing worse when a service provider doesn’t deliver. At times the request can be difficult to achieve, this is when honesty and a consultative approach is required, and we aim to do both.
Our culture is to under promise and over deliver.
Will we always get it right? No is the honest answer, that doesn’t mean that we didn’t put every effort in but that we deal with people and this will always mean that human error will be a residing factor. However, we believe that an excellent service is not whether a problem will arise but what is done to prevent them and how they are dealt with when they do occur.
“Treat people as you wish to be treated.” Although this is a cliché phrase we do constantly try our best to be true to the meaning.
