A Day In The Life Of: Alex Offless

Normally, people tend to get up with a good amount of time to get ready and set for work right? Not our Recruitment Resourcer, Alex Offless.
Never mind being ready to start at 8am, he’s getting up at 7:30am!
In a quick 10 minute timeframe, he’s brushed his teeth, little bit of hairspray on the head, clothes on, and then time to leave at 7:45am to get in for 7:55am.
His lovely partner will prep a breakfast smoothie for him to take – Mango, pineapple, almond milk and Greek yoghurt (this is saved for cheeky brunch time).

The morning ritual in the Worksop branch – Lisa will make everyone a hot drink.

Alex utilises his final 5 minutes before 8am, to just sit and enjoy the first coffee of the day…BUT IT’S 8AM NOW! GET TO WORK!

First off, it’s the usual – Checking up on emails from the night before, and spending time to respond to each.

Alex’s day is half sales, half recruitment.

A big chunk of his time is prepping for sales. Alex will research and plan where the next lot of door knocking sessions will be, who he wants to give a call to use his sweet sales talk, or who he’ll be posting information out to.

Alex has weekly sales targets to hit, including door knocks, how many calls a week etc. so he is well motivated to get this bit done!

A huge part of Alex’s job is to onboard new business, and pass them onto the most suitable Consultants covering those locations or sectors.

A lot of the Consultants in the Worksop office will take their lunch between 12pm – 1pm, so Alex is on hand to take over the incoming calls.

Just imagine Mr. Tickle with all those arms answering a call with each hand…

Eventually, Alex is munching his lunch – Chicken & Rice with a little side of veg is the preferred cuisine.

50% of his lunch time will either be going home to make lunch if he didn’t have time, or just trying to distract others whilst they work.

Before Alex knows it, it’s reached the afternoon!

As Alex only has around 5 – 6 clients on his books, he will spend majority of the time helping his fellow consultants recruit for their many many clients.

He will often be visiting with Consultants to be able to get to know the different DM’s, Managers and just researching more into the companies they cover in general, so when Consultants are off, he can make sure that their clients are in safe hands.

When the clock hits 2pm, it’s catch up time!

Consultants will gather round once again to discuss their plans of action, and any positions that they need help filling.

Alex and the Worksop team will PRIORITISE this! TEAM WORK!

Until the end of the day, they will go crawling through CV after CV, matching each of them to any suitable jobs, making sure that everyone’s bookings are securely filled and covered!

Everyone’s happy!

5pm usually means home time right? NO! Not for Alex at least.

Depending on the day, Alex could be attending football practice – he plays striker for his local Worksop team – or he could be at the Gym or attending cycling classes.

But every night guaranteed after work, he is popping off to the sauna. This will help him relax and get to sleep.

Alex mentioned that he used ALL of these hobbies to get to sleep, but even then, it’s not enough.

Alex is very much a night owl, so will not get much sleep. So I would say goodnight Alex, but you may still be up…
