A Day In The Life Of: Robert Wilson

It’s 5:00am in the Wilson household.
There’s some creaks coming from the bedroom…AH! It’s Robert Wilson, it’s time for another day!

First things first, he will head out for a nice quiet morning walk. Still in his pyjamas which are tucked into his shoes, with a big coat.

He’s still got a fair amount of time to go until he has to leave for work, so he will pop the kettle on, and read some of his latest book – he loves a good murder mystery.

Unless of course, it’s a Tuesday or Thursday when he will have to scrap these things to make the longer commute to our Burton office… as a Senior Branch Manager, Rob pops over twice a week to help out, in between managing the Chesterfield and Rotherham branches.

Today is a Wednesday though, so his car pulls up to the Chesterfield branch. Rob is here.

He’ll unlock the doors, fill the kettle, and have his second brew of the day! Calm down Robert.

First task is to get on with the DRM, which stands for ‘Daily Review Meeting’. This will throw up any issues and problems that need to be resolved. Rob will ask his team of consultants if anything is ‘kicking off’, so he can help and advise… and of course, there are also many positives! Everything is discussed in this meeting to allow the team to adequately plan the day ahead.

Next up, he will check in with the Burton office to see how everything is getting on down there, before cracking on with the days task.

Before you know it, TIME FOR LUNCH! Rob will place his little lunch box on his desk.

I see he is having Babybels, the light ones to be specific. 1, 2, 3.

3 Babybels always, every day.

Along with 1, 2, 3 Quorn Sausages. If there is even 1 Babybel or Sausage missing, there will be havoc.

Whilst he’s in the kitchen, the team are on high alert. ROB HATES MESS! If your cutlery is not clean when Rob is about, it’s going straight in the bin!

Rob once threw out his own home microwave once because it hadn’t been cleaned…

This afternoon, Rob is attending an Operations Meetings with our other Branch Managers, giving them chance to see what is happening across the branch network and address any issues that have come up and to discuss strategy going forward.

He then works through 1-2-1 sessions with each of the branch staff, along with providing necessary training for them. He quotes – “It’s to make the consultants better than they were yesterday”. Inspiring.

Once home, his dogs, ‘Hugo’ & ‘Nacho’ will say hello, along with his cat ‘George’.

“Hello Hugo”

“Hello Rob”

”Excuse me?”

”Ermm…woof woof”

He gets back to reading his book, and watching a bit of the telly. Recently, he has been loving Salvage Hunters. Rob said, and I quote, “It is ACE!”

Now the day is done, it is an early night for Robert. 9:00pm.

He’s going to need that sleep for another busy day once again.

Goodnight Rob.
