A Day In The Life Of: Alison Orli

It’s now 7:05am, the time for our Operations Director, Alison Orli to rise.
7:05am is very specific you may think. Well I thought the same thing. This is because every morning task has been timed perfectly, so she has now coordinated the final time she can get up before she has to leave the house.
She swigs that first morning cup of tea quickly, before getting her head together and pushing her son out of the door for school.
She perfectly described her morning as a military operation.
For breakfast, it’s those wheaty pillows of fun – Shredded Wheat, along with some droppings of raspberry and strawberries.

Alison mostly works from home, but will be out every now and then for client visits or company meetings.

When working from home, SHE WILL NEVER EVER BE OFF THE PHONE!

She’ll be scrolling through Tiktok and Instagram…not really. She will always be on calls with our staff or our clients.

“Alison I need this”, “Alison I want this”, “Alison I have a strange mark on my bottom”.

She will always be dealing with clients, or branch problems, for as long as she is at her desk. The only time she is safe is lunch time and when she is travelling.

Alison is the one to conduct the 1-2-1 meetings with Branch Managers, where she can discuss with each of them the branch as a whole, the teams progression, and how each of their respected clients are doing.

These meetings will be very long. Long long meetings. Can be up to 3 hours some days. I think 3 hours is enough time to drill any juicy info out of anyone.

Alison will spend a lot of her time with new starters who have joined the company. This includes service training; trying to teach them about our key selling points for what we provide as a business, and the best methods for selling our services to clients and what we can give back.

After these meetings, she will spend time with the new Consultants going through their meetings, reviewing, and passing on any feedback that will be beneficial to them in the future.

Oh boy it’s lunch time!

The lunch of choice will either be soup, crackers, cheese and ham sandwich, or one slice of toast. And just a few pickings of crisps.

“What a light lunch!” Yes reader, but it all counts for something… Read until the end to find out!

If time is on Alison’s side, it’s time to walk the dog.

“Please mummy! I need a walk please. Love me!”

That is Max, a Cockapoo. Very needy, and Alison described him as both ‘pathetic’, along with, and I quote, ‘wet’. Not heard that one for a dog’s personality before.

Like all of the directors, there are no specific tasks for the afternoon. Everything will just roll on, from the morning, from the day before, from the WEEK BEFORE!

Is Alison still on the phone?… Yep. Got to keep those clients sweet!

At all times, Alison will be researching into ways we could potentially be working more efficiently and smarter, so everything can run smoothly and in the best possible way.

She will always be checking if people are doing what they should be doing.

Like a game of operation, hence the name, ‘Operations Director’. She’ll be taking the collarbone out of our Consultant’s metal foot without setting off their red noses.

You know what I mean…

The clock strikes 5:00pm. Time for a relaxing evening at home…maybe I spoke too soon.

It’s time for the one of many afternoon clubs for the son. Footie, kickboxing etc.

Once that is out of the way, Alison will arrive home for Marc’s ‘cupboard special’ dinner. Or you know, they are trying a food subscription service at the moment. Think the cupboards specials aren’t so special anymore…

What else? A lot of child maintenance! Alison says she probably only gets about an hour to herself every night.

This will usually consist of watching dramas or box set – ‘The Pact’ is the current viewing.

But now, the whole of the day has been waiting for this moment. The calorie counting comes into play now… Having a light breakfast, and a light lunch means… it’s chocolate time! With no guilt!

Now that the chocolate has been demolished, it is time to clean one’s self, and then to hop on the train to sleepy time junction.

Goodnight Alison.
