“flippin’ cold out isn’t it?!” 

We’ve all been scurrying into the office saying something similar this week, with temperatures dropping and ice everywhere, we can’t wait to get into the warm office and cuddle the radiator before making a lovely hot drink.

It breaks our hearts to think there are people who are sleeping on the streets who can’t afford these little luxuries that we take for granted. We wanted to do something to help.

As a company who specialise in providing local employment, it felt right to seek out a charity to support who focus on locality too.

We heard about Emmanuel House, an independent charity that “supports people who are homeless, rough sleeping, in crisis, or at risk of homelessness in Nottingham.”

They want to “empower our local communities to make positive changes” and strive to “provide diverse and accessible services that meet basic human needs in a safe, inclusive environment”.

Located in an unused building the University of Nottingham’s University Park, Emmanuel House’s Winter Shelter provides emergency accommodation for up to 27 people per night.

In the day, the shelter helps guests to food, to find work, to find long-term accommodation and to access other services.

We chose to donate to Emmanuel House as we believe they pay an incredible and vital role in supporting the people of Nottingham.

This shelter costs £1000 per night to operate, so donations are greatly appreciated. You can find out more about donating here.
