Ever wondered what jobs celebs worked before they were famous?

Christopher Walken

The BAFTA award winning Amercian Actor, who you may have seen in ‘Sleepy Hollow’, ‘Pulp Fiction’ or ‘Catch Me If You Can’ to name a few, had a rather dangerous job before breaking out in the film industry.

Normally 16 year old’s start work as a Waiter or Retail Assistant as their first job, not Christopher Walken…he became a Trainee Lion Tamer at 16! 16!!

When questioned about it he replied with “who’s going to turn that down?”.

To be fair, it’s not everyday you get offered the opportunity to learn to tame a lion!

Danny DeVito

Another Amercian Actor, who’ve probably seen in Matilda, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia or as The Penguin in Batman Returns, took your not so average hairdressing job in his younger years.

It all began when he started helping out in a salon that his sister worked at as a Hairdresser and decided to take classes to become a hairdresser too. This lead to an opportunity to style hair for, well…the deceased.

He did admit that the job was a “little morbid”, but he was generally giving older ladies one final style for their open casket service.

Whoopi Goldberg

While we are on the topic of working at a morgue, American Actor Whoopi Goldberg also attended to the deceased, as a beautician.

As well as being a well known actor, comedian and author, Goldberg is also a licenced beautician and while she was trying to make ends meet as a single mom, before breaking out into showbiz, she saw an ad in the paper for a morgue beautician.

Hugh Jackman

Australian Actor and Wolverine Hugh Jackman isn’t a stranger to dressing up in character.

In his earlier life, Jackman worked as a Party Clown for 3 years, known as ‘Coco the Clown’.

It’s a good job he pursued a successful career as an Actor, as the clown life certainly wasn’t for him, with one 6 year old kid stating at a party “mummy, this clown is terrible, he doesn’t know any tricks”.

To which Hugh Jackman agreed that he had no magic tricks while working as a clown 🙁

Jon Hamm

Amercian Actor, Jon Hamm, best known for his role in Mad Men, was involved in a different type of ‘performing on screen’ environment.

In the late 1990’s, before making his name in Hollywood, he worked as a set designer on, ermmm…let’s say “adult movies”.

To quote Jon Hamm in one of his interviews when asked about his role he said it was ‘one of the worst jobs he’d ever had’!!

Patrick Dempsey

Dempsey aka ‘McDreamy’ for any Grey’s Anatomy fans out there, was a man of many talents when he was younger.

At 17, Dempsey dropped out of high school to pursue a career as a Juggler, Magician and Unicycle rider. His interest in juggling began when his woodwork teacher started teaching students how to juggle to entertain them, and he then went on to dream of joining a travelling circus.

This career path did help him on his journey to acting though, as he got an agent after winning a talent contest in New York and his began his path into professional acting.
