Question Time with: Paula Askew

Happy 10 years with Essential Paula! For anyone who knows Paula, you’ll know what a bubbly, funny character she is, so here’s some fun questions to get to know Paula even better…

1 – You’re offered the position of mayor of your city, what’s the first 3 rules / introductions that you will implement?

I would get a team around me to help with decisions 1, 2 & 3! I was sat with a rum in hand whilst I answered these questions, so I just thought I would hire other people to do my bidding and come up with the decisions for me! I’m the Mayor, I can do what I want!

2 –  Pick a fictional character or real person that you would love to have a 7 day camping retreat with – No phones, internet or access to the outside world…

Easy….Tom Hardy!! This is just self-explanatory isn’t it?

3 – We work in recruitment, and you have to pick 3 celebrities to work in a warehouse, which 3 would you choose?

I’d choose Chris Evans, his sense of humour would keep the atmosphere good.

Chris Hemsworth, his muscles would be good for heavy lifting and provide the eye candy to make sure each morning I’d be skipping to work and lastly Dawn French, cracking sense of humour again and a lady who I’d be able to chat to about the trials and tribulations of being a woman of a certain age!!! ????

4 – You’re the first one to get into the office one morning, and for some reason, you find an old man in your seat, who just won’t move and is being very stubborn. What do you do?

I’d firstly offer him a cuppa and if he’s lucky one of my digestives, then find out exactly why he was in my chair using my ‘motherly’ skills to get the info out of him and some family names and numbers, then explain if he didn’t vacate my seat I would be in a lot of trouble as I wouldn’t be able to do my job and let down a lot of people!! If he didn’t crumble under my persuasive chat it would be a call to the police!!!

5 – It’s your 10th year of course. If you could tell brand new starter Paula anything back then when she started or any advice from 10 year anniversary Paula, what would you say to her?

I would tell the newbie to take notes as there is so much to learn that you can’t possibly remember everything you learn at the start. Don’t be afraid to ask for help, there is always someone who can help and give advice as you don’t want to feel overwhelmed. Everyone is friendly at Essential and you’ll soon feel part of the team and use the years of experience from your team to make your journey a good one. Finally just be yourself and enjoy joining the Essential family ????
