A Day In The Life Of – Kayleigh Dodsworth

Kayleigh’s morning starts like most other people who work for Essential – Getting rudely awaken at silly o’clock by her alarm. This morning is no different with her alarm ringing at 5.30am… She will of course snooze it till 6, but will blissfully stay awake, laid in bed checking through Facebook, liking Love Island status updates. Kayleigh’s first task in the morning is her most tricky of the day, getting her kids up for school. A task that sounds so simple, yet it can range from a 5 – 30 minute mission. Once 2 very tired children wander onto the landing with rumbling tummies and sleepy eyes, Kayleigh will immediately shout “MORNING” both waking her kids up and the neighbours 3 doors down. Once Kayleigh has calmed down she’ll do some “Mum Tasks” as she calls it. Preparing their lunches, making sure their uniforms are prepared and most importantly pestering them to get their shoes on faster…

Once everyone is bundled into the car they’ll set off for Breakfast Club. The journey to Breakfast Club flies by, not because Kayleigh is a speed demon, but because it’s literally 0.2 kilometers from their house. She’ll park up, drop the kids off and wish them a good day. One thing that’s become apparent about Breakfast Club is how jealous she is of the food. Bacon, sausages, eggs, beans, toast, hash browns, bagels… Yes, they even get bagels. After seeing the feast her kids have had, food is at the front of Kayleigh’s mind. She’ll rush to work, get the local cafe’s menu and begin to write down her breakfast order. The best thing about working in the Long Eaton office is that everyone is in the same mentality – Eat whatever you want, and don’t give a damn! Obviously it sounds great on paper, until it hits Friday and the team has smashed 4 breakfasts and 3 takeaways.

Once food has been ordered and money collected, work must begin. First on the list, Check-ins. Kayleigh will make sure her “Peeps” have arrived for work and “chase” those who haven’t. In other words, ring them until they’re forced to answer or they block the number! Next on the list is a client catch up session: Seeing how things are going, what they’ve got planned for over the weekend and if they need any more staff to start ASAP. After this the team will complete their DRM, planning out tasks for the day, targets they’ve had during the week and they’ll exchange stories of how many bottles of wine they plan to drink over the weekend. They’ll come to the conclusion that whoever drinks the most and has the best drunken story will win a free breakfast, and then they’ll get back cracking on with work. On the run up to dinner Kayleigh’s got a day of resourcing to find suitable candidates for the bookings they’ve got. The only problem is for someone reason people in Long Eaton seem to have something against answering their phone and responding to messages, so actually getting a response is classed as a successful resourcing session!

Before she knows it dinner arrives. Obviously, the team had breakfast earlier so a light dinner is what’s in store… Perhaps a Domino’s or a chippy. Kayleigh will do the honors, she’ll dial out and begin to place the order. Before she even gets chance to speak she’ll be asked the question… ” Is it the usual?” That’s how regularly the team go, they even recognise Kayleigh’s voice! Once she’s devoured her “Mini Meal £5 Deal” the afternoon is sales, sales, and more sales. She’ll ring through her “Hitlist” badgering, pestering and persisting until they have to give them a chance. After completing her calls, the team will share their plans for over the weekend. Kayleigh’s got a weekend of Zumba and Insanity, in other words, high-intensity exercise, it’s probably a good thing seeing as she’s smashed ridiculous amounts of food over the week. She’ll leave work, go to the gym, get home, cook tea and binge watch Game of Thrones  (Kayleigh and her partner have started it again) until the early hours…
