Giving Back, One Friday at a Time!
At Essential Recruitment, we believe in making a difference – not just in the workplace, but in our communities too. Each year, our incredible team raises around £2,500 for charity through our Dress Down Fridays – a simple way to bring in that Friday feeling while doing something amazing.
Each month, we offer our clients the chance to donate £100 from our fundraising pot to a client’s chosen charity, helping support causes that mean the most to them.
Not only does this donation help a fantastic charity, but it also raises awareness among your workforce and beyond – because sometimes, just knowing a charity exists can make all the difference.
If you’d love to get involved and nominate your chosen charity, let’s work together to create a bigger impact!
Here are some of our previous donations:
Essential & OSL donate to Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice
Bluebell Wood was OSL’s Charity of the Year and our contact, Becca, requested to be considered to help in their fundraising activity.
The charity holds a firm place in our heart. We’ve donated back in 2015, 2015 again, and again in 2015, 2016, and again in 2016!
Our contact stated: “At OSL it is important to us to give back to our community. This year our community and charity committee chose local charities close to our hearts to donate and fundraise for this year. When Essential mentioned their charity donation scheme to us it was a no brainer that we wanted to participate. Thankyou to Essential for choosing us to donate this month.”
Brett Martin and Essential donate to Ashgate Hospice
Our friends over at Brett Martin Ltd, Kim Britton-Williams and Erin Melling, reached out to use our scheme to donate on behalf on Ashgate Hospice.
Ashgate Hospice ‘provide, educate and campaign for palliative and end-of-life care and bereavement support.’
Thanks to Kim and Erin, Ashgate benefit from a donation which they say will help them pay for meals for their patients, for bereavement support for family members who have lost loved ones, and for their community teams to make home visits, plus much more.
Hydro and Essential Donate to Warm Spaces
Tibshelf Warm Spaces offers free tea, coffee and biscuits, craft activities, card games and bingo. There is no need to book, and it is open to everyone.
The space is part of the Warm Spaces programme, which says “With a cost of living & climate crisis, many of us are facing tough decisions. Some of us have moved to working from home following the pandemic and are facing a winter with increased energy bills. Others are facing even harder decisions about whether to heat or eat. Warm Spaces is designed to signpost anyone in need of warmth & community, to a warm space to share with others.”
The donation comes from our contact Sue. Sue and her colleagues at Hydro believe the warm spaces programme is a worthy cause, and so do we.
Essential and Welbilt donate to Andy’s Man Club
ANDYSMANCLUB takes its name from Andrew Roberts, a man who sadly took his own life aged 23 in early 2016. Andy’s family had no inkling that he was suffering or struggling to the extent that he would do this, and as a result looked deeper into male suicide and men’s mental health. They soon discovered that male suicide is the biggest killer of men under 50, with male mental health surrounded by well-ingrained cultural stigma in the UK.
Elaine Roberts and Luke Ambler are Andy’s Mum and Brother-in-Law, together they came up with the idea of ANDYSMANCLUB, a group where men aged 18 and above can speak openly about their mental health in a judgment-free, non-clinical environment. Groups now operate nationwide and are completely volunteer-led. With a service used on a weekly basis by almost 2000 men, and an army of 500+ facilitators, the movement is always continuing to grow on a week-by-week basis.
