Travel disruption in the UK

Hundreds left stranded amid bus driver shortages

Has your daily commute been affected by the driver shortage?

Covid, Brexit and a skills shortage in the UK have come together to cause heavy disruption to Britain’s Public Transport systems.

The interruption has caused issues with our temporary workforce, who heavily rely on Public Transport as their only option to and from work.

One of our workers, Jamie from Chesterfield said “It’s frustrating because the digital bus stops still say the busses are coming, but they usually don’t, and I end up late for work.”

Stagecoach’s Twitter account is regularly tweeting about the latest changes to their services:

Another worker of ours, Sue from Mansfield has also been impacted: “I need to get the 7.12 bus to drop my kids off at their childminder’s before I start work. There are no updates on the [transport company’s] website so end up being stood there for up to an hour, in the cold, with hungry and tired kids!”

The lack of drivers is not limited to busses; many of our client companies are feeling the effects of a HGV driver shortage, with deliveries often cancelled or delayed.

We advise our workers to make regular checks to their travel provider’s website updates, and to contact their local branch if they are experiencing problems.
