Meet Tom Bates, the manager of our Burton-on-Trent branch.

Tom joined Essential Recruitment in 2015 as a Trainee Recruitment Consultant after completing an apprenticeship with another local agency.

Prior to this experience, Tom wasn’t all that familiar with what a Recruitment agency did. His Mum had temped before so he had a rough idea, but had no idea the scale of the industry and how heavy the use of temporary workers was in the Industrial sector!

His branch now runs some of the largest contracts for our company, he has brought on multiple clients himself and is now looking to expand his team with new Recruitment Consultants.

He’s well known in the office for his love of the “culture poster” – an A3 poster displayed in each of our offices outlining our company culture – for him, it’s a reminder of everything we are, and he often refers his team to this!

If you want to earn the bonuses, you want the progression, the pay rises and everything that comes with it, you’ve got to put the commitment in. If you have the right mindset, there’s no boundaries” Tom says. “Consultants can expect to earn in the area of £3-5K per year in bonus on top of their annual salary”
