The new National Minimum Wage rates have seen an increase by 6.6% today for workers aged 23 years and over and 9.8% for ages 21 – 22 years. The wage for an apprentice has been increased to the same rate of a 16 – 17 year old for the first time.
The new rate equates to an increase of about £1,000 per year for a full time worker.
The Government has set a target to raise in the National Living Wage to £10 per hour by the next election (May 2nd, 2024).
The new National Minimum Wages rates for April 1st 2022:
