Lauren and Rob are racing against Slavery!

London Landmark Half Marathon route

Our Operation’s Managers, Rob and Lauren, are busy training for the London Landmark Half Marathon on Sunday 6th April in order to raise awareness and money for Anti-Slavery international.

Slavery doesn’t just happen in other countries – in fact it’s a growing problem in the UK, with an estimated 130,000 cases – and 43% of reported cases were children.

We feel it is our responsbility as labour providers to contribute to Anti-Slavery charities, to help raise awareness of the signs of Modern Day Slavery, and to protect our workforce.

What are the signs of slavery?

Here are a few signs to look out for. Someone in slavery might:

  • Appear to be under the control of someone else and reluctant to interact with others
  • Have few personal belongings, wear the same clothes every day or wear unsuitable clothes for work
  • Not be able to move around freely, and they may not have access to personal identification
  • Be reluctant to talk to strangers or officials including police officers or health workers
  • Appear frightened or withdrawn, or show signs of physical or psychological abuse
  • Be dropped off and collected for work always in the same way, especially at unusual times – very early or late at night

What to do if you think someone is a victim of slavery:

If you suspect that someone is in slavery, DO NOT confront them or cause a scene as this will likely lead to increased harm for them. Instead, inform relevant authorities or organisations working in the field.

If you are in the UK and suspect someone might be in slavery, you have several options:
