Workshop Operative
Location: Ilkeston, Derbyshire, with travel to customer sites across the UK
Salary: £27,000 per annum
Hours: Monday -Friday 08:00am – 17:00pm – Occasional weekend work and overtime available, flexibility will be required

We are looking for a reliable Workshop & Installation Operative to join our client’s busy production team.
This hands-on role involves supporting the manufacture, preparation, and installation of bespoke display structures and event assets.
The successful candidate will divide their time between the workshop and customer locations, helping to ensure projects are delivered to a high standard from build through to installation.
This position would suit someone with a background in joinery, carpentry, manufacturing, or event production who enjoys varied work and takes pride in producing quality results.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the manufacture and assembly of bespoke structures and display solutions
- Interpret technical drawings and production instructions
- Use a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively
- Support onsite installations and dismantling of projects across the UK
- Manage stock, materials, and workshop equipment to ensure operational efficiency
- Carry out repairs, maintenance, and refurbishment of existing assets
- Work closely with colleagues to ensure projects are completed on time and to specification
- Help load, unload, and transport materials and equipment when required
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and workshop organisation
- Follow all health and safety procedures
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous experience within a workshop, manufacturing, joinery, or production environment
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings
- Confident using hand tools and workshop machinery
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Flexible approach to working hours and travel requirements
- Joinery, carpentry, or woodworking experience- Desirable
- Experience working on exhibitions, displays, shopfitting, or event-related projects- Desirable
- Knowledge of installation work and site-based environments- Desirable
- Basic understanding of electrical components or installations- Desirable
- Forklift licence or other relevant workshop qualifications- Desirable
