Toolmaker / Tool Room Engineer, Alfreton

Are you an experienced Toolmaker, Tool Room Engineer or Precision Engineer looking for a stable, days-based role within a well-established manufacturing business?

We’re recruiting for a skilled Toolmaker to manufacture, maintain and improve precision tooling, dies, moulds, jigs and fixtures that support high-quality production processes. Working within a busy toolroom environment, you’ll utilise your manual machining and precision engineering skills to help drive efficiency, quality and continuous improvement across the site.

Salary: £16.50 per hour
Working Hours: Monday to Friday – 7:00am to 4:00pm

 

Key responsibilities of a Toolmaker / Tool Room Engineer include:

  • Manufacturing precision tooling to detailed engineering drawings
  • Repairing, maintaining and improving existing tooling
  • Working with traditional lathes and milling machines
  • Operating CNC machines where required
  • Using traditional hand tools to achieve high-accuracy finishes
  • Working with carbon steels, tool steels, nickel alloys, plastics, brass and copper alloys
  • Using precision measuring equipment to ensure dimensional accuracy
  • Monitoring tool performance, waste levels and run rates
  • Working closely with production teams to identify and implement improvements
  • Assembling, testing and adjusting completed tools to achieve desired outcomes
  • Interpreting verbal instructions and turning ideas into practical solutions

 

Ideally apprentice trained, you will bring strong experience in conventional machining alongside a solid understanding of manufacturing processes.
