Stores and Warehouse Assistant – Barnsley
We are currently recruiting for a Stores and Warehouse Assistant to join a local family-run business in the Barnsley area. This is a fantastic opportunity for a hardworking individual to work across all areas of the warehouse, trade counter, and customer service. The role offers temp to permanent opportunities with potential for career progression within the business.
Details:
- Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5pm (early finish on Friday)
- Salary starting at £25k per annum (subject to increase)
- Annual bonus (pro-rata)
- Temp to permanent contract available
- On-site parking
- Kitchen/washing facilities available

Duties include:
- Accurately receive, check, and book-in deliveries
- Organise and store products in the correct locations, including bulk and day-to-day stock
- Pick, pack, bag, repack, and despatch customer orders to a high standard of accuracy
- Serve customers at the trade counter, process orders, and manage cash/card transactions
- Arrange couriers for national and international deliveries, including bulk and palletised shipments
- Maintain stock levels and replenish shelves to ensure order fulfilment
- Support customers with product enquiries professionally
- Adhere to company health & safety policies and maintain a clean, organised workspace
- Assist with customer issue resolution in collaboration with the Accounts team
- Supervise the collection of goods by couriers at the end of the day
- Participate in the annual full stock take
- Attend training and product knowledge sessions as required
- Carry out other reasonable duties as directed by the General Manager
Requirements:
- Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to manage challenging situations
- Full UK driving licence and own transport
- Highly organised with the ability to prioritise and manage workload independently
- Collaborative team player with a proactive approach
- Experience within an electrical wholesale warehouse/stores environment is essential
- Counterbalance Lift Truck licence preferred (training can be provided)
