Sewing Machinist, Staveley Chesterfield

We are currently recruiting Sewing Machinists to join a well-established and growing company based in Staveley on a temporary to permanent basis.

This role would suit someone with a sewing or textiles background, whether gained through previous employment, training, or hands-on experience, who is confident using industrial sewing machines or keen to further develop their skills in a supportive environment.

Hours:

• 42.5 hours per week
• Monday to Friday, 8am – 5pm

Pay:

• £12.71 per hour, rising depending on experience

Duties & Responsibilities

• Operating lockstitch and overlock sewing machines
• Operating manual and mechanical cutting, eyeleting, and similar equipment
• Assisting in the manufacture of a wide range of fabric goods
• Undertaking preventative maintenance and cleaning of equipment
• Assisting with the organisation of materials for production
• Packaging finished goods ready for dispatch
• Maintaining a clean, tidy, and organised work area
• Adhering to health & safety procedures and safe working practices
• Making basic patterns
• Carrying out any other reasonable tasks as required by the line manager

Experience & Skills

• A sewing, tailoring, or textiles background is highly desirable
• Previous sewing machinist experience preferred, but not essential
• Ability to learn from supervisory staff and follow instructions
• Good attention to detail and a positive attitude to work
