Service Controller
Location: Altrincham
Salary: £30,000 (with potential flexibility depending on experience)
Hours: Monday to Friday, between 7:30am – 5:00pm (42.5 hours per week, 30-minute unpaid lunch, flexibility required)
We are working with a well-established business within the plant and equipment sector who are looking to recruit a Service Controller to join their team in Altrincham.
Reporting to the Service Manager, this is a busy and varied role where you will play a key part in supporting the service function — coordinating engineers, managing breakdowns, and ensuring customers receive a high level of service support, while working within structured processes to maintain service efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Handling incoming customer calls and service enquiries
- Booking service and repair jobs onto the system
- Raising job cards and preparing estimates for remedial work
- Planning and scheduling engineers’ workloads (typically 6–8 engineers)
- Managing and processing breakdowns via phone, email, and internal systems
- Ordering parts and liaising with third-party providers where required
- Keeping customers updated on job progress and completion
- Maintaining accurate records and completing general administrative duties, including some invoicing
Requirements
- Previous experience in a service coordination / controller / scheduling role
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Ability to manage a busy workload and prioritise effectively
- Confident handling customer queries in a fast-paced environment
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word
- Experience working within structured service processes or KPI-driven environments
Desirable
- Experience within plant, construction equipment, agricultural, or similar industries
- Experience using Kerridge or similar dealer management systems
- Understanding of service/engineering environments
