Senior Electrical Engineer

Location: Burton-on-Trent
Salary: £55,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am – 4pm
Type: Permanent, Full-Time

We are recruiting for an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join a growing engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled electrical design professional to take ownership of complex projects, provide technical leadership, and support the development of innovative electrical systems.

The successful candidate will play a key role in electrical design, project delivery, and continuous improvement activities while working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities of a Senior Electrical Engineer:

• Lead the design and development of electrical systems and power distribution solutions.
• Create and review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and technical documentation.
• Perform electrical calculations including load analysis, fault current studies, cable sizing, and system performance assessments.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards and regulations.
• Select appropriate electrical components based on performance, safety, and cost requirements.
• Support testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and manufacturing activities.
• Collaborate with mechanical, software, and production engineering teams.
• Liaise with suppliers and external partners to resolve technical issues and support product development.
• Mentor and support junior engineers through technical guidance and design reviews.
• Drive continuous improvement, standardisation, and innovation across engineering projects.

Essential requirements of a Senior Electrical Engineer:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 4+ years’ experience in electrical design engineering.
• Strong understanding of LV/MV power systems, protection systems, industrial controls, and electrical design principles.
• Experience carrying out electrical calculations and producing technical documentation.
• Schematic design and creation using electrical design software such as SolidWorks Electrical or AutoCAD Electrical.
• Experience with panel design, wiring practices, and manufacturing processes.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Previous experience leading projects or supporting junior engineers.
