Recycling Operative
Location: Markham Vale, Chesterfield
Hours: Monday to Friday / 7:30am – 6:30pm
Pay Rate: £12.71 per hour
Job Type: Full Time, Temporary Ongoing
No Experience Required – Full Training Provided
We are currently recruiting Recycling Operatives to join a well-established waste and recycling site based in Markham Vale.
This role offers consistent, long-term work for individuals who are reliable, physically fit, and not afraid of hands-on work.
There are also regular opportunities for last-minute overtime, so flexibility is important.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sorting recyclable materials on a fast-paced line
- Working with dry waste materials
- Litter picking across site areas
- Jet washing and general cleaning duties
- Cleaning drains when required
- Maintaining a clean and safe working area
- Following all health & safety procedures
- Supporting general yard and site duties
What We’re Looking For:
- Good level of physical fitness
- A strong work ethic and reliability
- Ability to work outdoors / semi-outdoors in all weather
- Comfortable working in a waste and landfill environment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-intensity setting
- Flexibility to take on overtime at short notice
- Team players with a positive attitude
- Previous recycling, waste, or warehouse experience is beneficial but not essential
Important Information – Please Read Carefully:
This role is based on an active landfill site.
The working environment can be:
- Cold, wet and muddy, especially in winter
- Dirty and physically demanding
- Involving strong smells and waste materials
This role will not be suitable for everyone, but candidates who understand the environment and are prepared for it often find it stable and long-term.
