Quality Technician, Gainsborough
Working hours: Monday to Friday 08:30am – 17:00pm – During peak periods (May to September) you will be required to work 1 in every 6 Saturday’s, which will be paid at time and a half.
Salary: up to £34,000 per annum

A great opportunity has arisen for a proactive and detail‑driven Quality Technician to support Quality and Product Safety activities across multiple production units, including Print, Lamination and Conversion. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment, enjoys problem‑solving, and is motivated by improving standards, reducing complaints, and strengthening customer confidence.
You will play a key part in maintaining and enhancing quality performance across the site. Working closely with Production, Shift Managers and other internal teams, you’ll help drive improvements, manage investigations, support compliance activities, and ensure the business continues to meet industry standards and customer expectations.
The role also includes deputising for the Quality Assurance Manager when required, supporting day‑to‑day quality operations, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Quality & Product Safety Support across Print, Lamination and Conversion units.
- identify, plan and deliver improvement projects aimed at reducing complaints and lowering the Cost of Quality.
- manage customer issues, non‑conformances and suspect product investigations with timely, professional follow‑up.
- Ensure corrective and preventive actions are completed, effective and measurable.
- Collate, analyse and present performance data to internal stakeholders.
- Maintain adherence to BRCGS and ISO 9001 standards.
- Support internal audits, participate in third‑party audits, and complete compliance checks including knife control, glass and brittle plastics inspections.
- Manage supplier‑related investigations and claims.
- Complete customer specifications and supplier assurance documentation.
- Work closely with Production and Shift Managers to improve quality performance
- Assist the Quality Manager and act as deputy when required.
Requirements
We’re looking for someone who brings both technical capability and the right behaviours:
- Quality experience within a manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of BRCGS and ISO 9001
- Strong problem‑solving skills and confident decision‑making
- Excellent attention to detail and a logical, structured approach
- Assertive communication style with the ability to challenge constructively
- Positive, proactive attitude with a “can‑do” mindset
- Good IT skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Experience in flexible plastics packaging is advantageous- This isn’t essential
