Purchasing Executive
Location: Dinnington, Sheffield
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm
Salary: £30,000 per annum
We are recruiting for a Purchasing Executive to join a growing organisation within the food sector.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working with data, and is confident managing supplier relationships and stock performance.
Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day purchasing for approximately 20 UK and international suppliers.
- Forecast stock requirements and maintain optimal stock levels using ERP data and reporting tools.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, monitoring performance and resolving issues proactively.
- Track deliveries, coordinate with transport partners, and liaise with Goods In teams to ensure smooth inbound logistics.
- Work cross-functionally with Sales, Warehouse, Operations, and Finance to align purchasing activity with business needs.
- Identify inefficiencies in purchasing, stock management, and reporting processes, contributing ideas for automation and improvement.
- Support product sourcing and assist in expanding the product range where required.
- Attend supplier visits or trade fairs in the UK or internationally when needed.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Experience in purchasing, stock management, or supply chain roles.
- Strong working knowledge of ERP systems (LV or similar) and Excel, with the ability to analyse data and improve reporting processes.
- Proven ability to build and manage effective supplier relationships.
- High attention to detail with an understanding of broader commercial objectives.
- Strong commercial awareness, including knowledge of costs, margins, and stock KPIs.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing delivery challenges and process gaps.
- Clear communicator who works well across departments and with external partners.
- Highly organised, adaptable, and capable of balancing daily operations with longer-term improvement projects.
- Strong numerical and analytical abilities.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to wider team goals.
- Experience with international purchasing or within food/FMCG sectors is beneficial but not essential.
