A well‑established, family‑run bakery with multiple retail shops across Sheffield are looking for an enthusiastic Retail Bakery Shop Assistant to support shop management teams across several locations. This role offers variety, hands‑on experience, and the chance to develop into a future Shop Manager.

We’re seeking someone with retail, hospitality, or food service experience. If you’ve previously worked as a Shop or Retail Assistant we’d love to hear from you!

Pay Rate:

  • £12.71 per hour

 

Hours:

  • Wednesday to Friday
  • Part time. Hours dependent on the day

 

Duties of a Shop Assistant:

  • Support the day‑to‑day running of multiple bakery shops
  • Open and close shops when required
  • Receive fresh bakery deliveries and maintain high‑standard displays
  • Prepare hot food including bacon, sausages, sausage rolls, pasties, and roast pork
  • Serve customers, prepare sandwiches, salads, and barista‑style coffees
  • Lead and motivate teams during busy periods
  • Maintain excellent food safety, cleanliness, and shop presentation
  • Assist with stock control, ordering, and waste management
  • Handle customer queries professionally
  • Provide management cover during holidays and absences

 

Skills Needed:

  • Retail, hospitality, or food service experience
  • Supervisory or team‑leading experience is desirable to cover for the Shop Manager when needed
  • Strong communication and people skills
  • Ability to adapt to different teams and locations
  • A positive, hands‑on approach
  • Full UK driving licence and transport preferred
  • Flexibility with shift patterns Training is provided, and you’ll be supported throughout.
