Junior Software Engineer

A growing engineering business specialising in electronic systems for industrial and heavy-duty applications is looking to bring in a Junior Software Engineer to support ongoing product development.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career to gain hands-on experience, working on real-world embedded systems alongside a knowledgeable and supportive engineering team.
Key Duties
- Write and support embedded software development in C and C++
- Assist with integration between software and hardware components
- Support testing, debugging, and fault-finding activities
- Contribute to both new product development and enhancements to existing systems
- Produce and maintain clear, structured technical documentation
You will be involved in the development of software used within control and telematics systems. The role offers exposure across the full development process, from initial coding through to testing and integration with hardware.
Experience Required
- HNC/HND or degree in Electronics, Software Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience)
- Basic understanding or exposure to programming in C/C++
- Knowledge of embedded systems and microcontroller-based design
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability
- Willingness to learn and develop within a technical environment
- Understanding of communication protocols such as CAN, UART, SPI, or I2C (Desirable)
- Exposure to RTOS or bare-metal programming environments (Desirable)
- Awareness of embedded Linux or IoT-based systems (Desirable)
- A hands-on mindset with an interest in practical engineering (Desirable)
