Installation Engineer – Vehicle Lifting Equipment

Location: Barnsley (regional travel)

Salary: £30,000 basic per annum + overtime

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm

Contract: Permanent, full-time

The Role

We are recruiting an Installation Engineer to join a specialist engineering team installing 2-post and 4-post vehicle lifts into automotive workshops and garages.

This is a hands-on, site-based role suited to someone with a strong mechanical background who enjoys practical work, problem-solving and working as part of a small installation team.

You’ll start each day from the Barnsley office, where the van and trailer will be pre-loaded, before travelling to customer sites to deliver and install equipment.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Installing and commissioning vehicle lifting equipment (2-post & 4-post lifts) at customer sites
  • Meeting at the Barnsley office each morning before travelling to site
  • Using company van and trailer to deliver equipment and complete installations
  • Carrying out mechanical installation work using hand tools and drills
  • Completing installation paperwork, checks and site sign-off documentation
  • Working safely and to a high standard at all times
  • Mentoring or supporting trainee engineers when required
  • Regional travel only – maximum radius approx. 2 hours / 150 miles from Barnsley
  • Occasional overnight stays, but this is not the norm

Pay & Working Hours

  • £30,000 basic salary (based on 45 hours per week)
  • Door-to-door pay
  • Overtime paid at time and a half, calculated monthly
  • Monday to Friday only – no regular weekends

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong mechanical background (installation, plant, fitting, mechanical engineering or similar)
  • Confident using hand tools and drills – someone who can genuinely “hold a spanner”
  • Comfortable working on customer sites and taking ownership of installations
  • Physically fit and happy with hands-on, practical work
  • Experience towing a trailer (essential)
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Own basic hand tools (specialist tools provided)
  • Reliable, professional and able to start ASAP

What’s on Offer

  • Stable, permanent role with a specialist engineering company
  • Regional travel only – no long-distance national work
  • Consistent weekday hours
  • Clear overtime structure and door-to-door pay
  • Supportive team environment with training on specialist equipment
