Pay Rate: £25,500 per annum

 

We are recruiting a Helpline Advisor for a the National Kidney Federation to support people living with kidney-related conditions, supporting the delivery, promotion and development of their National Kidney Patients Helpline. The role involves responding to enquiries, offering clear and accurate information and providing kidney-related medical information leaflets. The ideal candidate will have strong kidney-related knowledge, either through a medical background or hands-on experience supporting someone affected by kidney disease.

This is a vital role, providing information, guidance and reassurance to kidney patients, their families and carers across the UK.

Working as part of a small and supportive team, you will handle incoming enquiries, maintain accurate records and contribute to the ongoing development of helpline services, ensuring callers receive a high standard of support at all times.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Handling incoming helpline enquiries via telephone and email
  • Providing accurate information, guidance and signposting to patients and families
  • Maintaining and updating databases, call records and helpline statistics
  • Supporting peer support networks and self-help group information
  • Assisting with the development and updating of information leaflets and resources
  • Supporting general office and administrative duties when required

 

About you:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a comparable helpline, advisory or support-based role (essential)
  • Strong understanding of kidney-related health issues and/or medical background
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a calm and empathetic approach
  • Confident using databases and Microsoft Office systems
  • Able to work independently as well as part of a small team
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
