General Operative, Scunthorpe

Are you looking for a new role that provides opportunity to expand to your skillset? 

A steel supplier in the Scunthorpe DN16 area are looking for a General Operative to join them on a temporary ongoing basis.

As a General Operative you will be loading and unloading stock into wagons and using equipment such as overhead cranes and side loaders (which you will be trained on). Not only that, further down the line you’ll also be trained on the shunter truck so a driving licence will be required.

If you have any experience in the steel industry, whether as a General Operative, Yard Operative, Labourer, Factory Operative, Production Operative or similar this would be an advantage, however you will require all the training to need!

Pay Rate:

• £14.22 per hour

Hours:

• 3 shift rotation
• 6am-2pm / 10pm-6am / 2pm-10pm
• When on days and afters you will be on Monday to Friday
• When on nights you will be on Sunday to Thursday
• 37.5 hours per week

Duties of a General Operative include:

• Using overhead cranes and side loaders to pick steel rods
• Loading and unloading into wagons
• Any other duties required – no physical lifting involved

Skills required for this General Operative position:

• Previous experience in a steel industry would be an advantage
• You MUST have a driver’s license as you will eventually be trained on the shunter truck
• No other experience necessary, you will be trained on both overhead cranes and side loaders
