CNC Machinist, Sutton in Ashfield

We have an excellent opportunity for skilled individuals with CNC machining experience who are looking to secure a long-term position with genuine permanent opportunities!

We are currently recruiting for experienced CNC Machinists to join a well-established manufacturing company in Sutton-in-Ashfield.

The successful candidates will be responsible for setting and operating CNC turning centres and vertical machining centres safely and efficiently, ensuring that quality standards and production targets are consistently achieved. To support business requirements, there may be occasions where machinists are required to work in other areas of production, with training provided where necessary.

Location: Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire
Job Type: Temporary to Permanent
Pay Rate: Up to £18.63 per hour

Working Hours

• Mornings: 6am – 2pm
• Afternoons: 2pm – 10pm
• Nights: 10pm – 6am (during busy periods only)

Key Responsibilities of a CNC Machinist

• Set up and operate CNC turning centres and vertical machining centres.
• Operate Mazak and Hass CNC programming systems.
• Program Mazak turning centres and Mazak 4-axis machine tools.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings accurately.
• Inspect completed work to ensure it meets required quality standards.
• Consistently achieve production and quality targets.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
• Identify and resolve machining and production issues as they arise.

Skills and Experience Required for this CNC Machinist Position

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience setting and operating CNC machines.
• Strong engineering and machining knowledge.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Experience working with Mazak and Hass CNC systems.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Positive, proactive attitude with a results-driven approach.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems is desirable.
