Business Development / Sales Manager

Location: Primarily Rotherham-based (Hybrid working available)

Hours: Flexible full time hours

Salary: Up to £60,000 DOE + Bonus (Company performance bonus + personal target bonus)

We’re recruiting for a newly created role within our client’s UK sales structure – a commercially driven Business Development & Sales Manager to take ownership of their ecommerce and retail sales channels.

The ideal candidate will be a natural hunter: someone experienced in opening doors, winning accounts, and driving sustainable revenue growth across major retail and ecommerce platforms.

This role will focus on developing distributor relationships, generating direct business, and expanding the company’s packaging product range within the ecommerce and logistics sectors. Your mission: maximise commercial opportunities, secure long-term partnerships, and increase market presence across key UK channels.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, target and win new business within UK retail and ecommerce markets.
  • Sell the full product range, emphasising quality, sustainability, consumer experience, printing and branding capabilities.
  • Drive direct sales as well as growth via distribution partners.
  • Actively hunt new business via cold calling, face-to-face visits, Teams meetings and proactive pipeline generation.
  • Create account plans, grow revenue, and execute upselling and cross-selling strategies.
  • Support existing account management, conduct customer reviews and strengthen relationships.
  • Attend trade shows, collect market intelligence and monitor competitor activity.
  • Work collaboratively with customer service, operations and supply chain teams to support product introduction and ongoing service delivery.

 

Experience & Skills Required:

  • Demonstrable field sales experience, ideally selling into consumer brands or ecommerce channels.
  • Proven success in cold calling, solution selling, and breaking into new markets.
  • Experience selling products (not services) is preferred – packaging, manufacturing or FMCG experience advantageous but not essential.
  • Strong negotiation skills, commercial acumen and a results-driven approach.
  • Proven ability to build profitable pipelines, meet development targets and grow market share.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites and the manufacturing facility as required.
  • Must live within a commutable distance of the Rotherham facility for regular on-site collaboration.

 

This is a hybrid/remote role offering significant autonomy and excellent earning potential for a driven sales professional.
