Casting for Cancer

Last month we supported the Yorkshire Cancer Centre by sponsoring one of our clients in the Nick Clark Memorial Match – an annual event held at Lindholme Lakes in Doncaster

The event is ran by Nick Clark’s Brother-in-Law. He says:

“Those of you who attended the Maggotdrowners “fish-in” at Lindholme in May 2011 will remember my brother-in-law Nick Clark, who was at the time suffering from terminal cancer.

The fish-in turned out to be the last event Nick was able to attend, before he passed away on the 14th. June 2011.

As Nick enjoyed his fishing so much, and in particular the numerous events we attended at Lindholme, his son, Alex, and the rest of the family have decided to run an annual Memorial Match at Lindholme, with a view to raising much needed funds for Yorkshire Cancer Research”

The monies collected by the Yorkshire Cancer Centre go towards providing specialist medical equipment, research, patient home comforts, and arts and gardens projects for the patients of St James’s Institute of Oncology in Leeds (AKA “Jimmy’s” by the locals)

Our client Mark personally raised £300 – including our £100 sponsorship – and won the top prize for collecting the most sponsorship!

The total amount raised for this year’s event was just over £4500 including gift aid, with the running title for the past 6 years standing at £35,000.
