£50m fines for failed Right to Work checks

The CIPD People Management report has brought to light the huge fines that are being charged to UK businesses every year.

Right to Work documentation proves a person is who they say they are, that they are paying National Insurance, and that they are eligible to be working in the UK. Between July 2015 and July 2016, 2,943 civil penalties were issued, with a maximum fine of £10,000 – £20,000 per illegal worker.

Essential Recruitment are committed to ensuring our candidates have the correct Right to Work documentation before we send them out to work. Mutiple checks are made, both manually and automatically through our newly purchased CRM, and then again via spot checks by our in-house Compliance Manager.
